Nothing gold can stay
"Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay."
Robert Frost
This is one of my favorite poems by Robert Frost. It brings out the feeling of melancholy and understanding of inevitable change. With the coming of Fall, the possibilities of summer are gone and the cold winder days are on the horizon. In California, the change is not as obvious as in other parts of the country, but the inner change is still present.
I love painting Autumn's colorful palette. Many of my paintings and prints from original paintings depict the feeling of Fall, colors of Halloween and the harvest.
