Who influenced my art?

Hello everyone! It has been a while since my last blog post. Very often, people are asking me about artists who influenced my art and style. So, today is the day to talk about it :-)

My art was influenced by Wassily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. However, I am always fascinated by all art and art movements and art periods. These are the artists who had the most profound effect on my art style in terms of color and finding my own technique and style.

Wassily Kandinsky, Gorge Improvisation, 1914 Oil on Canvas

My bold colorful palette was influenced by Kandinsky's vibrant, bright colors. Many of his paintings were influenced by music. Kandinsky wrote that "music is the ultimate teacher". (wikipedia) And I, honestly, cannot work on my art if I don't listen to the music. There is some kind of spiritual connection between the sounds and the brush strokes. I listen to a variety of different genres depending on the feelings of the moment and the mood. Sometimes, music takes my art in a totally different direction. I like "The Eagles", "Dire Straits", "Pink Floyd", "The Phantom of the Opera", "Notre Dame De Paris" musical with Garou, Daniel Lavoie, Patrick Fiori, "The Beatles", Sarah Brightman, just to name a few :-)

Jackson Pollock, Convergence, 1952, Oil on Canvas

Jackson Pollock is an abstract expressionist artist also is also known as "Jack the Dripper" and his style of painting is often referred to as an "action painting". My Unique Acrylic Pouring Technique™ was influenced by his "action painting", however it is very different. Pollock's art is created by dripping the painting onto the canvas, I create my art by Pouring Acrylic Paint onto the canvas rather than using a brush.

Mark Rothko, Untitled, 1949 Oil on Canvas

Mars and Venus

Mark Rothko ia another great abstract expressionist artist who used bold colors and large scale in creating his artworks. A while back, I have experimented with field pourings using my Unique Acrylic Pouring Technique™. The above artwork illustrates this direction of my painting.

Although my art is influenced by these incredible artists, my art style and my painting technique are very unique and different. My latest artworks, for example, are created in whimsical style, while my older works are abstract expressionist pouring paintings.

Your comments and questions are very welcome :-)

Helen
